What’s new in GrantLink

A plain-language record of recently shipped improvements for nonprofit finance teams and their accounting partners.

Latest release: September 2026

Latest
  1. Review allocation updates before they reach QuickBooks

Eligible teams can now review the exact Class, Customer, or Project changes for an allocation before applying them to the source QuickBooks transaction. Bulk review keeps blocked rows unchanged, applies only approved updates, and makes progress visible in Settings → Background jobs.

  2. Track commitments separately from actual spending

Record grant commitments before the source transaction reaches QuickBooks, then see Committed and Actual spending separately across budget matrices and Excel exports. Matching a commitment to its QuickBooks source moves the amount to Actual without counting it twice.

  3. Reconcile complex ledger activity with more confidence

GrantLink now presents journal entries, payments, transfers, and allocation eligibility more clearly in the ledger. If an approved allocation loses its QuickBooks source link, current spending excludes the unsupported amount and calls out the exception for review.

  4. Approve budget edits requested in Chat

Organization Admins can ask GrantLink Chat to create, update, reorder, clear, or replace a grant budget. Chat explains the exact edit before approval, applies approved changes atomically, and protects against stale budget data.

  5. Create reusable reporting categories in Chat

Ask GrantLink Chat to find existing reporting categories or create the missing categories your organization needs. Chat preserves requested names and can use each new category immediately when building grant budget lines, without entering budget amounts or changing QuickBooks.

  6. Import reviewed allocations from QuickBooks CSV exports

Import Transaction Detail by Account and General Ledger CSV exports through a reviewed preview of totals, exclusions, and date warnings. Approved rows appear in grant spending immediately and can reconcile to later QuickBooks activity without double counting.

  7. Reuse report project templates

Save a report's design and project files as an organization template, then use that template to start a new Chat. Each new report receives its own private copy, so editing it does not change the saved template.

  8. Find product help and developer documentation

The public help center now brings GrantLink setup and workflow guidance into one searchable place. Developers can also explore the read-only REST API, authentication model, and generated API reference.

  1. See a clearer grant funding position

The finance dashboard, grant list, and grant overview now separate award coverage from received-funding coverage while keeping direct and indirect recorded spending visible. Unknown award amounts and funding restrictions remain explicit instead of being presented as cash on hand.

  2. Manage accounting-firm clients through focused views

Accounting firms can move between All clients, Needs attention, Claims in review, Reporting due, and Sync problems views. Each client row summarizes the most important setup, sync, reporting, deadline, and transaction-review signals.

  3. Control supported QuickBooks writebacks

Teams can review supported grant tracking and entity changes before they reach QuickBooks. Organization policy, user permissions, QuickBooks capabilities, and the selected connection determine which updates are available, while read-only access remains read-only.

  1. Trust budget-versus-actual totals across GrantLink

Budget matrices, summaries, exports, portfolio views, pace monitoring, and allocation workflows now share the same attribution rules. Spreadsheet editing is more resilient, exports include complete category totals, and budget resets use a reviewed, audited flow.
